Dear family and friends.
One week before we leave for our trip to the East coast. A short update on the
motor home. Marcel has given it a
face lift on the outside. He painted some of the black stripes a cream color, and made new
bumbers for the front and back. Looks great.

After and Before

One of his fix-it jobs was replacing the leaking sewer pipes.

Here Marcel and Peter have taken out the gas tank to fix the vent pipe. The tank was taken out 4 or 5 times since our Alaska trip. Can't imagine a trip without those two familiar smells. lol.

Marcel now carries a small book in his pocket with the "honey-do" list as he calls it. Besides fixing the leaky sewer drain, the vent pipe to the gas tank, making new bumpers, he also fixed the windshield wipers, fridge door handle, (it came off), screen door, re-attached the rear bumper (it tore off
catching a branch entering Sandbanks Prov. Park) and fixed the transmission lines. He moved the water tank to the front of the motor home, leaving room for our folding bikes, and put in a TV cable. The ugly blue awning has been replaced by a cream colored one, and a add-a-room is now complete. Thanks to Bill
Langton. Left to do is fix the air leak in the air bags, and the heater fan. It only works on slow speed. No wonder he carries a list. Who can remember all that!!!
Love to you all.
Mom/Alida
Whoo hoo! Way to go Mom:) Can't wait to follow you on your new adventures:)
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't the fridge door handle that we broke, was it? Oops!

OK, off you go then. Jean and I ended our time at Sandbanks today -- I have a great story to tell about that $155 fine John was given, but that will have to wait till next we meet. Safe journey!!
ReplyDeleteBon Voyage and Godspeed to you all!
ReplyDeleteWe're very keen to visit Nfld. with you this way - it's been a long held desire of our own to go there someday (using the 13 hour ferry!) so following your trip will be like doing the homework/dreaming part at the same time!
Thanks for sharing.
Barry and Joanne
Hope you have an awesome trip.

Hope you have a good trip. We made that trip 4 years ago and really enjoyed it. We took almost 3 months from Calgary across country and over to Newfoundland, and would like to go back again. This year we have been trying to sell our house and buy an acreage, so haven’t done much camping but are going to Osoyoos in Sept. to help Duane and Lynda at the RV West rally, and have just booked flights to Vegas for a week in Oct. because we need a break, Will try and remember to check out your blog. Good to hear from you, and hope you have a trouble free trip.
Hi Alida
ReplyDeleteDo you have an idea of when you would be in our area.
September 12th we are heading out to Ontario for 3 weeks.
Would be nice to see you when your in town.
Great to hear you're still travelling. Wayne & I went to Newfoundland 2 years ago, but found we needed at least 6 weeks to do
ReplyDeletethe east coast properly. Hope you have a great time. Our best to all.

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful, fun-filled trip east. We went to Nfld last summer, and there is something about this unique part of Canada that seems to tug at your heart and calls you to return. You will love it. Gros Morne is a MUST! Also, Brigus is a wonderful, quaint village north east of St John's that has a special little shop/ cafe that serves the absolute bestest fish chowder and blueberry crisp - to die for!!! and a must try!!!!
Twillingate is another place (we saw our first iceberg here in the POURING rains -lots of artisans and a cool gallery.
Also, St John's Airport has a wonderful, wonderful gallery of the arts of the island (free - all you have to do is drive to the airport just outside the city). And Pippy's Park is very good for camping in St. John's, they have mini golf and real golf, and the most wonderful botanical gardens featuring acres of native flora, etc ....
blessings
Dear Marcel & Alida.

ReplyDeleteWishing you a great trip. I love the East Coast having gone there several times. I hope to go to Newfoundland as well someday. I met many folks from Newfoundland when I lived in Alberta. Wow can they tell stories, sing songs, and enjoy the odd drink. All the best and I'll enjoy following your blog.

Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI will change the emailadress,no problemo!
How's live overthere? Just received your mail at my business adress and found myself a little time just to reply. Things are a little bit hectic now because we just released a new webshop (http://www.anwb.nl/webwinkel) and ofcourse a lot of starting-up-problems occur! I'm coördinator of the application administration and therefor responsible to solve the defects and problems within the environment where the webshop is running. There are a lot of integration points between different applications so that makes it a little bit hard to detect the problem. Still, I like it a lot and find it a challanging!!
At home is everything fine and we are busy planning our new holiday to Marocco this time! Looking forward to it and I'm sure we're gonna like it! You probably heard about the new member in the family? David and Angelique have a girl called Lynn. She's a lovely little girl and Margaret and Wim are like in heaven!! Like it's their own!!! hihi...
Well guys, have to do some work now so just a little chat. Hope y'all are fine and in good health. Take care!!!
Marcel
