The first view we saw of the flower pots.
Peter, Jennie and Marcel are watching the tide come in.
We were able to walk quite a distance, and around each corner were more spectacular scenery.
But we kept looking at our watch.
Amazing, how fast the water rose.
The green seaweed is called bladderwrack, also
known as kelp.
It is a brown seaweed harvested from cool ocean waters around the world recognized by its air-filled thalli or "bladders" that keep the plant afloat.
Typical Preparations: Added to soups and stocks, taken as tablets, as an extract, or drunk
as a tea.
This could be our new blog picture!! What do you think Amy?
Several rocks looked like faces. Marcel thought this one looked like Ringo Star.
Today was a lot cooler than yesterday, and we wore our jackets all day.
Same view as the first picture. We went down again to the ocean floor after breakfast. This was around 11 am. Immy and Jennie are in the foreground.
This is provided to clean your shoes. There are hoses and brushes. We all made use of them.
The day was still young, so we all piled into Peter and Immy's van and did a coastal drive back to Cape Enrage. Good thing the motor home stayed behind. The climb was very steep at times. It was well worth the back tracking as you can see.
Then a quick stop at a winery. Bought blueberry wine. And a stop at a glass blowing shop.
It was extremely windy up top as you can see by our hairdos.
A view to the other side.
They call this the chocolate river.
Oh yes, some kind of pipe broke off Peter's van. Not sure what or how important it is, but he said it can be fixed later. Imagine that, our motor home went through one WHOLE day without problems. Oh, oh, I lied. The right windshield wiper would not come on this morning when we hit one foggy patch. So far, you're right on with that map Herman!!

We drove back to Hopewell Rocks to pick up our motor home, and by 3:45 we were on the road. We are now in Nova Scotia in Amherst. Tomorrow Lunenburg.
I'm caught up.
Till tomorrow.
Till tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy the journey!
Lots of love being sent to you all.
The comment about the mounties made us laugh too! We love to see mom's personality come out in her comments. Way too funny! The flower pot islands and the glass blowing brings back many childhood memories of when I went out east with my family. Continue having an amazing trip!

We're glad you are hitting some nice days, weatherwise. It has here been sunny, no wind and mid twenties all week and supposed to continue intil after the long weekend.
ReplyDeleteIn that one picture we thought the ones in the background were Immy and Jennie. :)
Can anyone tell us how we get that "amp;" out of our name?
Hi Gang
ReplyDeleteAlida, we love your descriptions of everything. In the one picture with Immy & Jenny in the foregroung, the rock formation looks like a giant bear.
The scenery is breathtaking. Can't wait 'til your home to fill us in even more. Love Janice & Paul
Beautiful! I agree with your choice of cover photo, mom;)
